She desperately wanted to move so that she could have her dog stay with her, and so that she could move out of the “shoe box” bedroom that she currently occupied. She was concerned that she was over-paying for rent in the current market, and sought expert assistance to secure a new home to share with a friend, understanding that it can be challenging to find a pet-friendly rental when the pet is a dog, and the rental is a unit!

  • Built-ins in the main bedroom (preferably not mirrored, and preferably in both bedrooms)

  • Similar-sized rooms

  • A balcony / garden

  • A dishwasher

  • Bench space in the kitchen

  • < 15 min drive to the beach

  • < 10 min drive to the shops

  • Not on a main road

  • An internal laundry

  • Not next to a bar

  • Pet-friendly for the dog

Her preferences were:

  • A bath

  • < 10 min walk to the beach

  • Windows and storage in the bathroom

  • Parking

  • Intercom

  • Air conditioning

  • Grassy, green, leafy, quiet

  • Natural light in living area

  • A kitchen with two sinks, a window, gas, and no fake wood cabinets

  • Bedrooms that are not against the kitchen walls

  • Close to transport

  • North / South aspect

  • No dark entry ways

  • Storage

Following a week-long search online and off-market, several suitable homes were identified, of which four were inspected. It was a hard decision, and ultimately two applications were placed. Victoria was approved for her preferred property. here’s what she has to say:
